While newspapers are going away, reporting and writing isn’t. Digital news organizations are experiencing explosive hiring rates.
Editors of digital natives say they are hiring younger staffers with better digital instincts and skills, PewResearch recently reported.
And for those who say story telling is taking a backseat to lists, non-narratives, 140-character Tweets and six-second Vines, think again.
A recent study reported that a 6,200-word story on BuzzFeed, which gets about half its readers through mobile devices, not only received more than a million views, but also held the attention of users for an average of 25 minutes.
